Corabelle “Corky” Humbert Redington, 94, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, March 30, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born March 18, 1931, in New Salem, Kansas, she was the daughter of Harry and Golda Lee (Booe) Humbert. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1948.
Corky was united in marriage to James “Jim” Redington on April 1, 1949, in Gulfport, Mississippi. She began working in the offices of Winfield Investment Company. She later worked for Bank’s Insurance and Edward B. Stephenson Agency. The family moved to Colorado in the 1960’s, returning to Winfield in the late 1970’s. Her favorite job was being a stay at home mother and wife.
She attended First Christian Church in Winfield and sang in the church choir for many years. She and Jim enjoyed working the middle flower gardens leading into the church. She served as a Deaconess with the church as well. She later became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. While living in Colorado, she enjoyed taking part in the Crusade concert as a member of Billy Graham’s Choir.
She is survived by her husband Jim Redington; her children, Kenneth Duane Redington; Leah Diane Bromlow and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Cassie Redington, Amber Horton, Cayla Chacon and husband, Mangin; great grandchildren, Blakely Shae Horton and Royce Chacon; her sisters, Brenda McCool, Glenda McCool; her brother Harry Humbert and wife, Sherre; and so many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Corky was preceded in death by a granddaughter Crystal Ann Redington.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 3, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. Private family burial will be held at Highland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Corky’s name for First Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
