1948 - 2025
Craig L. Edwards, age 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, December 19, 2025, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Craig was born September 13, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Boyd A. Sr. and Charlotte Faye (Pratt) Edwards. He was raised and received his early education in Iowa before relocating with his family to Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Turner High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. Following graduation, Craig began his working career at Hodgdon Powder Company in Kansas City.
On March 6, 1971, Craig was united in marriage to Jill Hittle in Kansas City. The couple made their home in the Kansas City area before moving to Winfield, Kansas, in 1976, where Craig would spend the remainder of his life.
Throughout the years, Craig was employed by Greif Brothers, Rodeo Meat Company, and Rubbermaid. In 2006, he began working at the Winfield Correctional Facility, where he dedicated over 14 years of service before retiring in 2020. Following retirement, he worked briefly in security at the casino near Newkirk.
Craig was a member of the Arkansas City Shooting Range and enjoyed attending garage sales and spending time with friends during poker nights. He especially loved tinkering with small engines. Craig found great enjoyment in buying old lawnmowers, restoring them, and reselling them simply for the pleasure of the work. Because of this, he became affectionately known as “The Lawnmower Man.”
Survivors include his wife, Jill Edwards of Winfield; his children, Chad Edwards and wife Teresa of Norwich, Kimberly Edwards of Winfield, and Kelley Bolander-Hendrickson and husband Rick of Katy, Texas; his siblings, Boyd Edwards Jr. and wife Diane of Grand Ridge, Florida, and William Edwards and wife Cheryl of Kansas City; his grandchildren, Lexia Skeet and husband Zack of Wichita and Brooke Bolander of Kyle, Texas; and his great-granddaughter, Arya Skeet.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
