David Lee Mahlandt
1970 - 2025

David Lee Mahlandt, 55, of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, at his home.

Born January 28, 1970, in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of John and Sharon (Pherigo) Mahlandt. He was raised and received his education in Douglass, graduating from Douglass High School in 1989.

David was united in marriage to Jackie Barker on October 12, 1991, in Douglass where they made their first home. The couple also lived in Mulvane, Belle Plaine, and Udall, before settling in Atlanta. David began working for Spirit Aero Systems in 1996. He retired as a Sheet Metal Mechanic on October 17, 2025.

He attended Three Wooden Crosses Church in Augusta and was an active volunteer for the 3WC Rodeo Camp. He loved to team rope as well as teach team roping and mentor young rodeo kids. He was a professional pot stirrer.

His family includes his wife Jackie of Atlanta; his daughter Paislee Mahlandt of Atlanta; his mother Sharon Mahlandt of Douglass; his siblings, Mike and Amanda Mahlandt of Augusta; Penny and Fred Sheetz of Udall; Zach and Jane Barker of Atlanta; Ashley and Stephanie O’Neil of Atlanta; Amelia Barker of Winfield; Matt and Connie Barker of Missouri; Jennifer Navrat of Andover; his nieces and nephews, Levi and Chetta Mahlandt, Dallas and Caleb Melton, Marissa and Elliott McNelly, Dylan and Audrie Rippey, Baylee Barker, Hunter O’Neil, Kyle Navrat, Krissy Navrat, Marley Barker, McKenna Barker, Brennin Davis; his great niece and nephews, Kynlee and Sterling Mahlandt and Emmett McNelly; his dear friends Laynee and Rein Roberts as well as many other extended friends and family.

David was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Three Wooden Crosses Church in Augusta followed by the Cowboy’s Last Ride held in the 3WC Arena. A reception will follow at the Douglass Community Building. Services are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Services will be livestreamed on the Three Wooden Crosses Cowboy Church Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in David’s name for the 3WC Rodeo Bible Camp. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
