David Lyle Miller, formerly of Winfield, KS, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2026, in Arkansas City, Kansas.
David sustained life-altering injuries in June 2025 that required him to rely on the care and love of his wife, family, and friends. His family would like to thank Hopper Home Health, Gentiva Hospice, and Interim Home Health for the assistance he received.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Cambridge Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Cambridge Baptist Church.
David was born February 24, 1952, in Smith Center, Kansas to Rev. Lyle & Jeanie Miller. Most of David's education took place in Beloit, Kansas. He graduated from Scandia High School in 1970. He attended Cloud County Community College and later Southwestern College.
David worked at a gas station in Mankato, KS, before running a gas station purchased by his father, in Norway, Kansas.
In 1975, he moved to Cowley County. While attending Southwestern College, he met his future wife, Crystal Ball. David's father, The Rev. Lyle Miller, united them in marriage at Tisdale United Methodist church on May 15, 1976. The couple made their first home, renting from Howard Moon. Later, they lived at Southwestern College while serving as house parents for two years (1977-1979). Most of their life together was spent on the old "Shields" place, east of Winfield. In 1988 a fire destroyed their trailer house, prompting them to build their blue house, which still stands today.
David worked at Gott from 1976-1988. He was then a babysitter to his niece and nephew and a stay-at-home dad until the early 1990s. After that, he worked at Ead's One Stop and K-Square, and was later employed at Galaxy Technologies from 1996-2006. In later years, he also worked at Calmar and Dillons.
David was an active member of Cambridge Baptist Church. David was a lover of history and was very knowledgeable about guns and cars. David delighted also in collecting movies and TV shows on DVD and loaning them to friends and family.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark. He is survived by his wife; a son, Shelby (Polly); a daughter, Shawn Marie Stover; brother, Jim (Melanie); sister, Beth Hazen (Alton); numerous nieces and nephews; and grandchildren Colton Miller, Coralee Miller, Carter Miller, Clayton Miller, Skyler Stover, Tobias Stover, and Timothy Stover.
