Dianna L. Weigand, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, February 26, 2026, at the Kansas Veterans Home.
Born June 8, 1951, in Independence, Kansas, she was the daughter of Beryl E. and Patricia A. (Fiechtl) Donals. She was raised and received her early education in Cherryvale before moving with her family to Winfield. Dianna graduated from Winfield High School in 1969. After high school, she began working at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center.
She was united in marriage to Larry A. Weigand on July 25, 1988, in Winfield where the couple made their home. Dianna remained at the State Hospital until its closing in 1996. She then returned to school, first at Cowley and later transferring to Wichita State University, where she graduated with a bachelor degree in Social Work. She then began her career as a social worker for the State of Kansas where she remained until retiring in 2014. Larry preceded her in death on October 31, 2010.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Kiwanis. She enjoyed collecting bells, music boxes, Bible study cards, and coins. She also enjoyed going to flea markets and garage sales.
Her family includes her son Chris Weigand of Winfield; her sister Marie Deets and husband, Arthur of Neosho, MO; her brothers, Greg Donals and wife, Marsha of Burden; Rod Donals and wife, Brenda of Phoenix, AZ; Jerry Donals of Winfield; her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dianna was preceded in death by a brother Gary E. Donals.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church. The Rosary will be prayed that morning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in Dianna’s name for Kiwanis and Holy Name Catholic Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
