Don E. Crow
1936 - 2025

Don Edwin Crow, 89, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away, Sunday morning, July 27, 2025, at his home.

Born February 23, 1936, in Dexter, he was the son of Carl Edwin and Elsie Beulah (Poe) Crow. Don was raised and received his education in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1954.

Don was united in marriage to Cora “Kay” Higbee on August 12, 1956, at the Maple City Community Church. The couple lived in Wichita for three years and then made their home in Maple City. They built a home in rural Dexter in 1972. Don worked at Boeing from 1956 to 1961, Buckeye Natural Gas from 1980 to 1985, and for Modern Woodman from 1987 to 1989. His lifelong career and hobby, however, was farming and ranching. He retired in 1990.

Don was a member of Maple City Community Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and spending time at his house on Lake Taneycomo near Branson, Missouri. He also enjoyed singing and loved to play the piano.

Don’s family includes his wife Kay Crow of Dexter; his son Brad Crow and wife, Tracey Winfield; his daughter Teresa Lerret and husband, Mark of Vacaville, CA; his daughter-in-law Joy Crow of Moreno Valley, CA; his grandchildren, Kyree Lerret (Nick Cassidy), Allie Crow, Abby Crow, Bethany (Garrett) Dick, and John Crow (Vanessa Silva); and his great grandchildren, Ezekiel Cassidy, Delilah Cassidy, Elias Cassidy, Zander Carlson, Scotty Dick, Jack Dick, and Angelina Crow.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a son Eddie Crow and a sister Margaret Headly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 4, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Dexter Schools Industrial Arts Department or to Maple City Community Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
