Donovan “Eric” Hunt, 58, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, March 24, 2025 at LakePoint El Dorado.
Born September 13, 1966, in Greenfield, Indiana, he was the son of Donovan Ray and Roberta Ann (Grist) Hunt. He was raised and received his education in Knightstown, Indiana, graduating from Knightstown High School in 1985. While in high school he was the President of his senior class as well as a Letterman in football and baseball. He then attended Vincennes University receiving an Associates Degree in Aviation Maintenance, before transferring to Purdue University where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Airframe and PowerPlant Technology in 1989.
Eric began his career with General Electric in Yorktown, Virginia where he met Gail Loadman. The couple were united in marriage on November 2, 1991 in West Chester, Ohio. The couple made their home in Ontario, California and later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1994, they moved to Narita, Japan and in 2001, the family moved to Winfield, Kansas. Eric made his career working in customer service with General Electric in Aviation. Gail preceded him in death on November 15, 2015.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Boy Scouts of America, obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and was a FreeMason. Eric enjoyed coaching softball, woodworking, tinkering in his garage, going to church, and attending his kids sporting events and dance recitals.
His family includes his children, Noah Hunt and wife Victoria of Seaside, CA; Isabella Wilson and husband, Daniel of El Dorado; Abigale Hunt and husband, Robert Jinks of Indianapolis, IN; his mother Roberta Hunt of Knightstown, IN; his brothers, Ty Hunt and wife, Lea Anne of Wilkinson, IN; Chris Hunt and wife, Shawna of Greenfield, IN; and his grandchildren, Mavis Hunt, Bryson Jinks, and Jemma Wilson,
In addition to his wife, Eric was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 29, 2025 at First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors that evening.
A memorial has been established in Eric’s name for the Boy Scouts of America Troop #293. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
