Edna Maurine Lewis
1935-2026

Edna Maurine Lewis, a longtime resident of Winfield, Kansas, passed away at the age of 90. Born in Tomora, Nebraska, Edna lived a life defined by hardwork, devotion to her family, and a spirited sense of humor.

Edna was a lifelong learner, earning a certificate in Data Processing from Cowley College. She dedicated many years of service to the Winfield State Hospital and was a vital partner to her husband, Dee, managing the bookkeeping for their family farm for decades.

A faithful member of the Grandview United Methodist Church, Edna’s greatest joy was her family. She was the heartbeat of every family reunion, always looking forward to the next gathering where she could catch up with everyone she loved. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom they took great delight in “picking on” her - a testament to her playful and resilient spirit.

An avid hunter of hidden treasures, Edna never missed an opportunity to head out to a garage or rummage sale. Whether she was with family or friends, those outings were about more than just the finds; they were about the laughter and stories shared along the way. When she wasn’t on the hunt for a bargain, Edna could often be found tapping her toes to the sounds of Polka and Bluegrass music.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lula Hougland; her beloved husband, Dee Lewis; her daughter, Lou Ann Enslow; and her son, Robert Johnson.

Her memory will be cherished by her surviving children, Terry Johnson and his wife, Donna; and Ryan Lewis and his wife, Sasha, all of Winfield; as well as her many beloved grandchildren, Malachi Lewis, Micah Lewis, Matthen Lewis, Wendy Fjorden (Jason), Nathan Falk (Erin), Heath Berryman (Yanqun), Jessi Evans, Trena Cantrell, Ashlea Sanders (Tony), Amanda Ballesteros (Phil), Tara Johnson; and her 12 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 23, 2026, at Grandview United Methodist Church under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Wilmot Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in Edna’s name for Grandview United Methodist Church and for Tunnels to Towers. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
