Freda Ann Swisher, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at her home.
Born December 24, 1950, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Fredrick and Lillian (Grant) Moore. She was raised and received her education in Dexter, attending Dexter High School.
She was united in marriage to Benjamin Swisher on February 18, 1969, in Miami, Oklahoma, while he was on leave from the United States Army. Freda lived in Winfield with Benjamin’s parents while he served a second tour in Vietnam. During the early years of their marriage, the couple lived in both Emporia and then Wellington, Kansas, where Freda was a loving, dedicated homemaker. In 1975, the family moved to Winfield where Freda worked at Daylight Donuts for a short time and remained a homemaker until their children were out of the home. She later worked at Wal-Mart and Dollar General.
She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary as well as being a member of the Patriot Guard with Benjamin. Freda enjoyed playing softball when she was younger. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Her family includes her husband Benjamin of Winfield; her sons, Fred Swisher and wife, Kelli of Derby; Paul Swisher of Derby; her sister Maudi Stands of Payson, AZ; her brother Marvin Moore of Wichita; her grandchildren, Jasen, Jessica, Cody, Jacob, Jack, Benjamin, Anna, Aireal, Mya, Greyson; and her great grandchildren, Georgia, Elli, Kai, and Jace.
In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by a grandson Devine Swisher.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 10, 2025, the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
A memorial has been established in Freda’s name for the VFW Post #3544. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
