George Lowell Brown, II, 77, passed away Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024.
Born October 18, 1947 in rural Sedan, Kansas, he was the son of George Lowell and Barbara Jean (Stephens) Brown. He was raised and received his education in Sedan, graduating from Sedan High School in 1965.
George enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 and proudly served his country for over 21 years until retiring in 1988. While in the Navy, George worked primarily as a Boiler Technician, serving all over the world, including Virginia, Florida, California, and South Carolina.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to south central Kansas and began driving trucks for Groendyke Transportation. In 2003, he attended Cowley County Community College and received a degree in Non-Destructive Testing. He then worked for Calmar in Winfield, before returning to driving trucks. George was a member of the Sedan Christian Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars, especially mustangs.
His family includes his son George Lowell Brown, III, and wife, Tammy of Topeka; and his brothers, John Brown and wife, Jennifer of Sedan; and Ron Brown and wife, Debra of Sedan.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a daughter Norma Jean Stephens.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Round Mound Cemetery near Cedar Vale, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
