George M. Morrison
1933 - 2024

George M. Morrison, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, at William Newton Hospital.

Born September 27, 1933, in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Ernest and Mary (Forbes) Morrison. He was raised and received his education in Wichita. He joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War, spending most of his time in Japan.

George was united in marriage to Maxine Jones in February 1959 in Wichita. The couple made their home in Wichita where George worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He began as a lineman, working up to engineer. George and Maxine moved to Winfield in 2019.

He was a member of University Congregational Church in Wichita, as well as many clubs, including the SCCA, the Wine Club, Cosmopolitan Club, Optimist Club, and the Scottish Historical Society. He enjoyed car racing. He especially loved volunteering at Wesley Medical Center and the Ronald McDonald House. He served as the Wesley Hospital Auxiliary President for a time as well.

His family includes his wife Maxine Morrison of Winfield; his son Jeffrey Morrison and wife, Patty of Winfield; his grandchildren, Sam Morrison of Wichita; and Hannah Morrison of Winfield; sister-in-law Laurita Moore of Arkansas City; and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by a brother John and a stillborn brother Ernest James.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Miles Funeral Service. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at Cumbernauld Village.

Memorials have been established in George’s name for Cumbernauld Village and for the Ronald McDonald House. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
