After graduating from high school in 1989, Grady joined the US Army. He served from 1990 to 1998, performing in all positions on an M1A2 Main Battle Tank, including Tank Commander. After the Army he became a police officer in Dodge City, Kansas. He excelled in many positions including Detective, SWAT Operator, Gang Officer and many more. Moving to Oxford, Kansas in 2006, he worked as a Sergeant/Assistant Chief of Police, TASER instructor and Firearms instructor. Grady competed with the Sumner County SWAT Team in the National SWAT Championship in 2008. While working in the Oxford police department, he achieved his Bachelor's Degree in Christian Leadership from Barclay College.

Oxford is where he met the love of his life, Sandy Klein. They were married on December 11, 2010, at the Old Oxford Mill. Grady was a devout Godly man that loved his wife in the biblical principles laid out in scripture. It was ever apparent how much he adored his curly haired wife.

In 2014, Grady became the Chaplain for the Winfield Correctional Facility and Wichita Work Release Facility. He found joy in sharing his faith and teaching the men God’s word. Grady’s love for this community inspired a vision of a place for the residents to worship, with more room and more opportunity for their faith to grow. This began the formation of the Winfield Spiritual Life Center. Fund raising is currently in progress to see his vision come to life. While serving as Chaplin, Grady went on to complete a Master of Theology degree from Reformed Baptist Seminary.

Grady was a member and an Elder at Mt. Zion Community Church. He was called to serve and love his church family. Grady’s passion was to preach and teach God’s word. His zeal for the church to glorify his Jesus was very evident in all aspects of his life. If you could not tell he was preaching from his heart you were not paying attention. His absence will be felt by many.
