Gregory W. Palmer, 69, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, June 3, 2025, at his home in Jay, Oklahoma.
Born April 17, 1956, in Lawrence, Kansas, he was the son of William Elgin and Gertrude Irene “Trudy” (Burdick) Palmer. He was raised and received his education in Wichita, Kansas.
He was united in marriage to B. June Payne on October 28, 1978, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wichita. The couple made their home in Winfield where Greg began working for the City of Winfield. He remained at the city for over ten years, before attending school in Wichita, to receive his license as an electrician. He spent over 25 years working as an electrician, retiring in 2015. In 2019, Greg and June moved to Jay, Oklahoma.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winfield. Greg was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and water skiing. His passion was deer hunting.
His family includes his wife June Palmer of Jay, OK; his children, Zach Palmer and wife, Patricia of Newburgh, NY; Tacia Palmer of Wichita; his brother Brad Palmer and wife, Kathy of Hutchinson; his grandchildren, Alison Cornelius and husband, Robert of Tulsa, OK; Aubrey Palmer of Tulsa, OK; Ashton Palmer of El Dorado; Adrian Foreman and wife, Faith of Imperial, NE; LaTisha Lafferty and husband, Tanner of Winfield; and five great grandchildren with one on the way.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by a brother Steven William Palmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 9, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. that morning. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Greg’s name for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
