James H. Macklin, 78, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 19, 2025, at his home.
Born February 28, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Charles and Esther (MacAnulty) Macklin. He was raised and received his education in Springfield, Illinois. He then attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he received his Pilot’s license.
He was united in marriage to Mary Einheuser on December 28, 1968, in Springfield, Illinois. The family moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1982. James spent most of his career as a Charter Pilot. In 2019, after retiring, James and Mary moved to Winfield to be near family. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and reading and writing, particularly about aviation. He was very involved in politics and was an avid supporter of the 2nd Amendment.
His family includes his wife Mary Macklin of Winfield; his sons, John Macklin of Winfield; Bill Macklin of Danville; his granddaughter Charlotte Macklin of Winfield; and his brother Charles “Ted” Macklin and wife, Marilyn of Van Alstyne, TX.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a sister Terry Suttill.
The family will hold private memorial services at a later date. Services are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
