Jan was born on March 19, 1960, in Arkansas City to parents Marvin Stanley and Mary “Lucille” (Pierce) Hatfield. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1978 before continuing his studies at Cowley County Community College. He then began his professional career, which eventually led him to Boeing. After 27 years, he retired and started a new chapter as a broker with ICT Healthcare Advisors, where his ability to connect with people found a new outlet. No matter where work took him, music remained a constant—he spent years playing in various bands, keeping his passion alive alongside his professional pursuits. On September 14, 2001, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Teressa. Whether on the golf course, fishing, or on-stage playing music, Jan found joy in the things that made life meaningful. As a band member of the Dirt Road Misfits and Roadhouse Saints, music was more than a hobby—it was part of who he was. An avid networker, Jan valued his time cultivating meaningful professional connections and deep personal friendships, always finding purpose in bringing people together. At home, his loyal companion, Chai, was always close by, offering comfort and company in the quiet moments. Jan cherished time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who filled his life with boundless joy and energy.
Jan is survived by his wife Teressa, children; Casey Hatfield (Lana), Erik Swope (Rachel), Elisha Satterfield (Brice), Brigg Swope (Brianna), Taylor Hatfield and Bevin Pike (Jeremy), grandchildren Hayden, Landon, Sera, Kinsley, Calder, Greyson, Lincoln, Rylie, Kenna, and one on the way, brothers Gary Crowley, Joe Crowley (Jean), and Father Chad Hatfield (Shelley), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Crowley.
