Jeffery Hovey
1961 - 2024

Jeffery Dwaine Hovey, 63, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Monday, December 9, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. The love of his family surrounded him.
Jeff was born July 18, 1961, in San Bernardino, California. He grew up in an Air Force family living in Spain, the Philippines, and various other places throughout the United States.
His dad retired from the military, and the family returned to Winfield in 1973. Jeff graduated from Winfield High School in 1979. He attended Cowley County Community College and Wichita State University. In college, he became the National President of VICA and had the privilege of meeting President Ronald Reagan at the White House. All those experiences and his quick wit gave Jeff the extraordinary ability to connect with people. He could brighten days with thoughtful advice, offering encouragement, sharing a laugh, or simply listening.
His career in business and sales took him to various locations across the country. He settled in Omaha, where he met the love of his life, Julie Pitt. They later married and lived in Omaha with their family. They enjoyed traveling, and Jeff found joy in nature photography.
Though we mourn our loss, we take comfort in knowing that Jeff's words of wisdom and acts of kindness will live on in our hearts forever.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth & Joan Hovey: and brother-in-law, Gary Dyke.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Alexandria Liebig (Travis); and son, Michael Pitt; grandchildren Connor, Isabelle, and Bear; sister Cindy Dyke of Indianapolis; brother Roland Hovey (Danielle) of Winfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Heafy-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, West Chapel, 7805 West Center Rd in Omaha, NE.
