1946-2025

Judith Eileen Thomas, 78, of Oxford, KS, passed away on January 3, 2025, in Bartlesville, OK.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 10th, 2025 at the Oxford Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sumner County Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of Oxford Funeral Services.

Judith was born in Yakima, WA, the only child of Alfred and Mildred (Brekken) Buttenhoff. The family returned to Grand Forks, ND, where she was raised.

Judy graduated from Grand Forks Central High School and Wichita State University. She retired from Valero Energy Corp.; while there, she was nominated for Who's Who in Business and Professional People. She also worked at the University of Louisville, KY, as director of services. She was a member of the Oxford Christian Church, the Bag Ladies Quilt Club, and until her health failed her, she was secretary of the Oxford Development Corp and a deacon in the church.

She married Melvin Thomas on July 21, 1979, a marriage of 39 years.

She is survived by her three sons, John Butler of Oxford, KS; James Butler and Sonya of Janesville, WI; and Justin Butler and special daughter Arnetta Ward of Oxford; stepdaughter Lyndol Cobb and Bruce of Haviland, KS; numerous nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and my special blessing, Heather Harmon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two stepsons, Terry and Tim Thomas, and Betty Mears and Clayton.
