Judith “Judy” Ann Mitchell, 84, of Arkansas City, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Winfield Senior Living Community in Winfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. A visitation will be held from 10 -11 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Parker Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Church or to the Arkansas City Lions Club; donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Judy was born on April 15, 1942 in Kay County, OK to parents Leon and Sadie Alice (Woods) Trenary. On November 6, 1960 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Danny Ray Mitchell. Judy was a proud homemaker and farmers wife, she enjoyed helping with chores and baking and making sure everyone was fed well. She also worked at Presbyterian Manor as an aide and at Winfield Livestock Auction for several years.
Caring for children was what Judy enjoyed most in life. Judy loved raising her children, she ran a home daycare for many years; she served in Sunday school and nursery at Mt. Zion Church for many years, and of course, loved babysitting her grandchildren. She was a member of the Arkansas City Lions Club and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.
Her family includes her son, Ernest Ray Mitchell and wife Dedra of Greenwood, LA and daughter in law Kimberly Mitchell of Oxford, KS; her 4 grandchildren, Nathan Mitchell and wife Crystal, Hannah West and husband Joe, Dakota Mitchell and wife Alyssa, and Hunter Mitchell and great-grandchildren, Dakota Hasha, Cheyenne and Samantha Mitchell, Savanna Flemming, Elsie Grace West, Joseph West, Felicity Grace West and Lilah Mitchell. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three children, Mark Allen Mitchell, Ty Wade Mitchell and Lisa Ann Mitchell, sisters Lucille Wather, Gladys Kirkendall, Norma Jean Cottrell, and brothers Robert Lee Trenary, Leon Trenary Jr., and John Thomas Trenary.
