Kayle Danielle Atwater
1965-2025

Kayle Danielle Atwater, 59, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at her home.

Born September 28, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of Dickie and Judith (Lang) Atwater. She was raised and received her early education in Clearwater and Longton, Kansas, before moving with her family to Winfield where she attended high school. While in school Kayle was very active in 4-H and FFA. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1984.

Kayle joined the United States Army National Guard in November of 1985 and proudly served her country for eight years until receiving an honorable discharge in 1993. She attended Wichita Area Vocational Technical School, receiving a degree as an LPN in June of 1989. She later moved to Alaska, and then Colorado. While in Colorado, Kayle worked as a nurse at area nursing homes. She also attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a degree in Business in 1997. In 2002 she returned to Winfield, where she worked at Good Samaritan, until 2015. She was married twice, both marriages ended in divorce.

Kayle enjoyed crafts, puzzles, reading, and caring for her pets. She also enjoyed working at Bluegrass.

Her family includes her mother Judy Atwater of Burden; her sisters, Kerry Hoskins and husband, Ron of Winfield; Kelly Shultz and husband, Mark of Arkansas City; her brother Mathis Atwater of Boulder, CO; her grandmother Margaret Schmidt of Hays; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other extended family.

In addition to her father, Kayle was preceded in death by a nephew, Gunner Shultz and a niece Mason Hoskins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 7, 2025 at Miles Funeral Service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 P.M. The family will greet visitors that afternoon.

A memorial has been established in Kayle’s name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
