Larry Dale McIntosh, 73, died Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at his home outside of Arkansas City, Kansas.
He was born on May 13, 1953 in Norman, Oklahoma, the son of Vernon Roy and Norma Lee Hart McIntosh. With his father working for the railroad the family lived in several communities, settling in Wichita where he graduated from South High School where he ran cross country.
Larry met Theresa Lynn Harned in Arkansas City, they were married on August 6, 1983 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They made Arkansas City their home.
He had been a Brakeman and Conductor for the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad for 40 years. Larry enjoyed raising feeder cattle and was an avid golfer. He had the gift of gab and would talk your ear off if you’d let him.
Survivors include his wife Theresa of the home; children Megan Betzen and husband Craig of Belle Plaine, Ks., Drew McIntosh of Wichita, Molly Nichols and husband Evan of Tulsa; grandchildren Madison, Bennett, Warren, Blaike, and Scout.
He is also survived by his sister Beverly Gregg of Derby and brother-in-law Jeff Hendren of Mulvane.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and sister Raynonda Hendren.
Following Larry’s wishes, no services will be held. Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
