Lenora “Jane” Young, 98, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, October 26, 2025, at Cumbernauld Village.
Born September 23, 1927, in McDonald, Kansas, she was the daughter of James David and Jennie (Lilly) Bowland. She was raised in McDonald and received her education in Wray, Colorado, graduating from Wray High School in 1945. Following high school she moved to Winfield.
She was united in marriage to Wayne W. Young on March 1, 1947, in El Dorado, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield where Jane was a loving, dedicated wife and homemaker. In 1973, the family moved to Austin, Texas before settling in San Antonio, Texas. While in San Antonio, Jane attended college, receiving a Bachelor degree in Nursing in 1980. She then began working as an Oncology Nurse at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, where she remained until retiring in 1995. Wayne preceded her in death on November 4, 2009. Following Wayne’s passing, Jane moved to Howard, Kansas to live near her sister. While in Howard, she attended the Assembly of God Church and loved tending to her garden.
In her younger years, she was a member of the United Methodist Church. In addition to gardening, she enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Her family includes her daughter Linda Teppo and husband, Larry of St. Paul, MN; her son Larry Young and wife, Donna of Albuquerque, NM; her sisters, Lucy Criger of Winfield; Norma Allen of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Lars, Noel, Jessica, Nathan, Eugene, Kirsty, and Ryan; her step grandchildren, Christina and Ryan; and her 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma, Millie, and Roma, and three brothers, Jim, Ray, and Ronnie.
Private family services will be held at a later date under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
