Lorena “Claire” Graham
1935 - 2026

Lorena “Claire” Graham, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, January 15, 2026, at Cumbernauld Village.

Born February 3, 1935, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Irl and Nellie (Winslow) Johnson. Her mother passed away when Claire was two and half months old. Claire was raised by her father and stepmother Golda Johnson in Winfield. She received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1954.

She was united in marriage to Ned Graham on February 5, 1954, in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Claire worked for USD 465 as a secretary. She later began working for Smith & Moon as a secretary and remained there until her retirement.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Winfield Community Theatre, and the Winfield City Parks Commission. She also volunteered at the Winfield Food Pantry. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and running sound for the Walnut River String Band.

Her family includes her husband Ned of Winfield; her sons, Eric Graham and wife, Julie of Winfield; Stuart Graham and wife, Kelley of Wichita; her sister Judith Delaney of Stanerdsville, VA; her brother Peter Johnson and wife, Marilyn of Lawrence; and her grandchildren, John Graham and wife, Brooke of Wichita; Mitchell Graham of Wichita; Noah Graham of Advance, NC; and Gareth Graham of Wichita. In addition, Claire had numerous nieces and nephews that she adored and loved spending time with.

Claire’s family remembers her as a woman who always had a job to do. She never missed a game, concert, or play for any of her family. She was a devoted Grammy to her four grandchildren and was adored by both of her daughters-in-law.

In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Graham, and two sisters, Harriett Brannum and Sarah Smith Katz.

The family will hold private graveside services at Highland Cemetery, arranged by Miles Funeral Service.

A memorial has been established in Claire’s name for the Winfield Food Pantry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
