Lucy Ann Combs, 89, of Branson, Missouri, passed away Wednesday evening, December 4, 2024, at Winfield Senior Living.
Born December 24, 1934, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Lavere J. “Casey” and Dorothy (Smith) May. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. She then attended St. Mary’s of the Plains, a nursing school in Dodge City, Kansas, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. Following school, she went to St. Joseph’s in Wichita for Nurse’s Training.
She was united in marriage to Glenn R. Combs on August 23, 1959, in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Lucy worked as an RN at Snyder Clinic for many years. She later started a second career working in the Planning Department at Boeing. Mr. Combs was a lifelong employee of Boeing. The couple transferred with Boeing to Pennsylvania for three years while Glenn worked for the Vertol division. After returning from Pennsylvania, they bought their dream home in Branson, Missouri. Glenn would spend the work week in Wichita and return home to Lucy on the weekends until finally retiring in 1993. Glenn preceded her in death on May 31, 2020.
Lucy was a member of the Lutheran Missouri Synod, as well as the Elk’s Lodge. She enjoyed antiquing and going shopping.
Her family includes her son Troy Combs and wife, Sherry of Winfield; her grandsons, Chase Combs and fiance, Blanca; and Corey Combs and wife, Meighan; and her three great grandchildren, Evan, Nora, and Ainsley.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her sister Martha Price.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Cambridge Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
A memorial has been established in Lucy’s name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
