Margaret Ione (Nelson) Lister, 93, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Arkansas City, Kansas.
Margaret was born August 12, 1932 to Lee Russell and Evah K. (Burden) Nelson. She was mother to nine children, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a cherished sister and friend to many who loved her and gathered around her through her full life. Margaret enjoyed her church home of Grandview United Methodist Church in Winfield. She was passionate about animals and birds, along with her flowers and plants. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, canoeing, and fishing.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Patricia, brothers, Rollin Lee Nelson and Russel Nelson, and sisters, Lavon Shaff and Maxine Givens.
She is survived by her children, Jan Booth of Marlow, OK; Clay Fatout of Burden; Cindy Braun and husband, Garry of Dexter; Dean Fatout of Winfield; Pam Richards of Burden; Bill Fatout and wife Melisa of Stillwater, OK; Christy O’Connor and husband, Danny of Yukon, OK; and Kelly Lister and wife Penny of Mulvane; her 20 grandchildren; her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings: sisters Kay Bonewell of Arkansas City; Carolee Elswick of Clovis, NM; Donna Isemenger of Broken Arrow, OK; Cheryl Campbell and husband, Chet of Bella Vista, AR; and Marsha Nelson of Arkansas City. Margaret leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in Margaret’s name for Grandview United Methodist Church and for House of Hope in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
