Marvin D. Snell, 92, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, February 2, 2026, at William Newton Hospital.
Born February 19, 1933, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Seymour LeVergne and Janie Belle (Bowlby) Snell. He was raised and received his education in Udall, graduating from Udall High School in 1952. While in high school, he enjoyed playing on the baseball and basketball teams. After high school, Marvin joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Udall and began working at Boeing in Wichita.
He was united in marriage to Sarah “Janey” Waite on February 24, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. Marvin continued working at Boeing until taking a maintenance position at the electrical plant in Winfield. He remained at the plant for over 27 years until retiring as supervisor in 1995.
He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Arkansas City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, working puzzles, woodworking, tinkering in the garage, and spending time with his family.
His family includes his wife Janey Snell of Arkansas City; his son Le Snell and wife, Lynette of Derby; his daughter Sabrina Schnackenberg and husband, Kurtis of Arkansas City; his granddaughters, Amanda Chance and husband, Randy of Derby; Katie Dinneen and husband, Shawn of Arkansas City; and his great grandchildren, Kendall Chance, Keeley Chance, and Beckett Dinneen.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a brother LeVergne “Vern” S. Snell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM. The family will greet visitors that evening.
Memorials have been established in Marvin’s name for First United Pentecostal Church and for Wounded Warriors. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
