1942-2025
Myrlene Johnson, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025, at her home.
Born August 20, 1942, in Springdale, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Myrl L. and Mary E. (Fritts) Johnson. She moved to the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center at the age of three and remained there until its closing in 1996. She then resided at Capper Foundation for the remainder of her life.
Myrlene was a loving and caring person. She enjoyed watching Family Feud, going to the lake, picnics, and generally being outside. She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts with staff and friends.
In addition to the staff and residents at Capper Foundation, Myrlene’s family included three siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 26, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Myrlene’s name for the Capper Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
