Noel E. McConaghy, 82, previously of Belle Plaine, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, October 16, 2025, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.
Born July 10, 1943, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Frank and Opal (Taylor) McConaghy. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1961. He then attended Cowley County Community College before going to Louisiana in 1965 and training at Southern University for the Peace Corp. He served in the Peace Corp in Guinea, Africa. Following the Peace Corp, Noel went to Kansas State University and graduated with his B.A. in Animal Husbandry.
Noel was united in marriage to Jim Ann Boudreau on August 18, 1968, in Manhattan. Two weeks later, Noel was sent to Vietnam, where he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He would later become an antiquer, buying and selling goods at flea markets and auctions. He owned and operated BP Antiques in Belle Plaine. The couple made their home in Belle Plaine for many years.
He was a member of the Udall Church of the Nazarene. He loved auctions, in-person and online. He also enjoyed traveling and traveled all over the United States as well as Israel, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Canada.
His family includes his wife Jim Ann McConaghy of Wellington; his daughter Connie Lei Smith and husband, Chris of Ellis; and numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents, Noel was preceded in death by a brother Dale McConaghy and a sister Marilyn McConaghy Fields.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Udall Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Noel’s name for the Udall Church of the Nazarene. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
