Norma J. Trobaugh
1936-2025

Norma J. Trobaugh, 89, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Winfield Senior Living.

Born June 24, 1936, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Robert William and Margaret Ellen (Waldroupe) Scott. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1954.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Trobaugh on September 5, 1954, in Winfield. The couple made their first home in Winfield before living in Dexter for a short time. They moved to the family farm northeast of Burden in 1956 where they remained the rest of their lives. Norma was a dedicated homemaker, mother and farm wife. She worked as a cook in restaurants in Burden including the 160 Cafe. She also worked as a butcher at the Arctic Locker for nearly 20 years. She spent a short time cooking at the Burden School District and later went to work as a supervisor over the kitchen for the Winfield Correctional Facility until retiring in 2011. Mr. Trobaugh preceded her in death on October 1, 2002.

She was a member of the Burden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, needlework, knitting, and going to knitting shows with friends.

Her family includes her children, Robert Trobaugh of Burden; Mona Groene and husband, Randy of Winfield; Cheryl Watt and husband, Neil of Cambridge; Clint Trobaugh and wife, Tiffany of Winfield; her grandchildren, Jason Groene (Kelly) of Torrington, WY; Aimee Campbell (Nathan) of Winfield; Grant Groene (Sara) of Windsor, CO; Jared Watt (Lauren) of Cambridge; Kelly Grow (Jake) of Latham; Emily Watt of Winfield; Anastasia Trobaugh of Oklahoma City, OK; Codie Trobaugh (Samantha) of Rose Hill; Molly Trobaugh of Winfield; and her ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by a brother Noel Scott and a sister Nova Buell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Cambridge Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Norma’s name for Burden United Methodist Church and for Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
