Helen Christine “Chris” Casebolt, 70, of Winfield, KS passed away April 21, 2025 at her home. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray expenses. Chris was born June 18, 1954 in Winfield, KS the daughter of Lloyd Junior Casebolt and Helen (Phillips) Brake. She graduated from Rockport, MO high school in 1973 and later earned an associate’s degree in stenography. She worked as a waitress for years but retired from the CourierTaveler as a distribution supervisor for health reasons. Chris enjoyed going to the casino, dancing, listening to music, reading magazine stories, and attending the Church of the Nazarene. She was very sociable and enjoyed joking around with friends and family, she especially loved her dogs Baby B and Tiny, and her grandchildren. Chris is survived by her sisters Cathy Heinz of Haysville, and Sandy Casebolt of Winfield; daughters Monica (Shannon) Chambers of Barnand, MO, and Desi (Brian) Boyle, of Murfreesboro, TN; son Dustin Casebolt of Mayville, MO; and grandchildren: Jasa, Draek, Devin, Brenna, Dylan, Kelsie, Teylor, Darius, Justice, Jaycee, Alleigh, Mason, and Brylee; and great-grandchildren: Aedyn, Kevin, Bryon, Liam, Brixleigh, Daxx, Paceson, Braxton, and Harper. She is preceded by her parents, and infant siblings Lois Elaine and Ronald Lloyd.

Doris Frances York, 90, of Arkansas City, KS passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at the Kansas Veterans Home of Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the 1st Southern Baptist Church of Arkansas City. Interment will follow at Parker Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home. Doris was born on October 19, 1934 in Kosciusko, MS to T.W. and Ada (Weeks) Gilbert. She graduated from Kosciusko High School and was united in marriage to John A. York on April 5, 1953. They were married in Kosciusko, MS and later made their home in Barstow, CA before moving to Arkansas City. When her husband returned home from the Korean War with tuberculosis, Doris worked as a waitress at Diebel’s restaurant in Arkansas City and worked hard to sustain her family while John recovered. They later moved to Raton, NM before finally settling in Arkansas City again. Doris enjoyed sewing and making children’s clothing, knitting and crocheting, gardening, traveling in the RV, enjoying the outdoors and spending time fishing with her husband. Doris was a devoted Christian and was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church, most of all she loved her family and took pride in raising them. Doris is survived by her children Glen York (Linda) of Paris, TX, Rick York (Kathy) of Arkansas City, KS, and Diane Herren of Arkansas City, grandchildren: John York (Vicki), Jeff York (Tisha), David York, and Dallas Herren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Glen “Skippy” York, several siblings, and son-in-law David Herren.
