1935 - 2025
Patsy Jane Sommers, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, May 12, 2025, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.
Born December 12, 1935, in Winfield, she was the daughter of William and Vesta (Smith) Yianakopulos. She was raised and received her education in Winfield. As a young woman, she worked as a nurse’s aide.
Patsy married George “Keith” Sommers in 1954 in Derby, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. Patsy was a dedicated homemaker. Keith preceded her in death on November 17, 2010.
Patsy was a member of the Free Methodist Church and more recently First Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking.
Her family includes her children, Dwayne Sommers of Winfield; Sheryl Sherman of Hutchinson; Karen Rose of Hutchinson; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy was preceded in death by brothers, Nick, William, Jim, Theodore, and John, and sisters, Mary, Georgia, and Celia.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Union Graham Cemetery in Winfield under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
A memorial has been established in Patsy’s name for GracePointe Assembly of God Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
