1939-2025
Paul Arnold Evans Jr., 86, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at his home.
Paul was born on May 2, 1939, in Winfield, KS, to parents Paul Arnold Evans Sr. and Maudie Illa Mae (Miller) Evans.
He attended high school in Winfield, KS. Paul joined the Army and was stationed in Germany from 1957-1959. After returning home from overseas, he worked in the oil fields and at the meatpacking company in Arkansas City. He then moved on to Boeing, and later attended barber school in Wichita, KS, which launched his career. Paul started as a barber in Arkansas City at the Shamrock Barber Shop. Later, he became the owner of Crystal Barber Shop until its closing in March of this year.
Paul loved going out fishing with his boat. Favorite spots were Kaw Lake and Trader's Bend. Paul was a member of the American Legion in Arkansas City and lately attended Random Road Church.
Paul is survived by his daughters, Susan Evans and Diana Evans-Hoock with husband, a granddaughter, grandson, two great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.
He is preceded in death by his son, Steven Evans, his parents, and his sister, Patricia Evans-McKinnis.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
