Phillip Eugene Hager
1930 - 2026
Phillip Eugene Hager, 95, of Winfield, KS, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Cumbernauld Village.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, July 24th 2026, at the Harvest Christian Church in Winfield. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday July 23rd at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorials may be made to Harvest Christian Church, Harry Hynes Hospice or to Gideons International.
Phillip was born on December 29, 1930, in Dellvale, KS at home to parents Harold and Golda (Heller) Hager. He graduated from Clayton High School and then enlisted in the US Air Force for four years before attending Ft. Hays State for four years. On November 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mildred Freeborn in Cedar, KS. Phillip worked as a farmer for most of his life as well as an agricultural rep for Farmers National Bank in Osborn, KS for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and turning wood, making jewelry boxes, crosses, bowls, and salt and pepper shakers. He enjoyed golfing, watching any Kansas sports, and was a member of Bible Christian Church for many years as well as Harvest Christian Church, he was also a member of Gideons International and American Legion Post 10.
He is survived by his wife, son Kevin Hager (Tammy), and  daughter Kim Hager. Grandchildren Cameron, Cole (Jillian), and Carson. Siblings Doris Strayer and Mary Youngquest of Beaver City, NE.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vanetta, Phyllis, Gladys, Imojean, and brother Ronald.
