Raymond R. Garner, 69, of Cambridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born June 29, 1955 in Sedan, Kansas, he was the son of Lawrence and Effie (Mosier) Garner. He was raised and received his education in the Dexter area, graduating from Dexter High School in 1973.
Raymond was united in marriage to Verna L. Goff on September 19, 1981 in Arkansas City, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Cedar Vale, Kansas, and in 1993 they moved to Cambridge, Kansas. During his life, Raymond worked for the townships of Dexter, Grant, and Grand Summitt. He worked running a road grader and was the sexton of both Cambridge and Dexter Cemeteries for many years. Verna preceded him in death on November 2, 2014. Raymond enjoyed fishing, watching television, and tinkering in his shop.
His family includes his daughter Samantha Garner of Cambridge; his son Johnny Garner of Cambridge; his brother Gene Garner and wife, Judy of Burden; his sister Linda Daugherty of Skiatook, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was preceded in death by a sister Lorene Resner.
A private family service will be held at a later date under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
A memorial has been established in Raymond’s name for Relay for Life in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
