Richard D. Lillibridge, 80, passed away Thursday evening, November 14, 2024, at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.
Born August 16, 1944, in Marysville, Kansas, he was the son of Clifford R. and Alice M. (Lueers) Lillibridge. He was raised and received his education in the Marysville area, graduating from Marysville High School in 1962. He then attended Kansas State University and in 1966, received a Bachelor degree in Business. Following school, Richard joined the United States Army where he served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War.
He was united in marriage to Theresa Oswald on October 12, 1969, in Manhattan, Kansas. The couple lived in Delray Beach, Florida where Richard worked as a Stockbroker. They later moved to Iran where he worked as a flight instructor as a subcontractor for the United States Government. In 1982, the family began traveling in a 5th wheel, exploring numerous states, looking for the place that felt like home. They immediately fell in love with Laramie, Wyoming, and remained there until 1994, when they returned to Kansas to be near family. In 1997, Richard took a position as an instructor for flight safety in Wichita. He remained there until retiring in 2001.
His family includes his wife Theresa Lillibridge of Winfield; his daughter Alix Botts and husband, Dr. Jeff Botts of Overland Park; and three cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Military Committal Honors and interment will be held at Fort Scott National Cemetery at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 19, 2024, under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
