Richard L. Biddle
1941 - 2025

Richard L. Biddle, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, April 22, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Born September 19, 1941, in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Homer Cecil and Thelma Dorrine (Simmons) Biddle. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, attending rural schools. Richard joined the National Guard in January 1961 and proudly served his country until June 1964. He rodeoed in the 1960’s and 1970’s, specializing in calf roping, bulldogging and team roping. He also raised horses for about 15 years.

Richard was united in marriage to Frances I. Jennings on January 18, 1964, at the First Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City. The couple made their home and raised their family in Winfield. Richard worked for the Winfield Livestock Auction and Binney & Smith Crayola Factory beginning in 1964. He then began working at Rodeo Meats beginning in 1970 where he remained for 20 years. In 1990, he began working at Webster Engineering and Manufacturing where he retired as Supervisor of Shipping in 2005. Frances preceded him in death on November 9, 2021.

He attended Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities and spending time with his family.

His family includes his son Dan Biddle and wife, Jana of Arkansas City; his daughter Kelley Lumbert and husband, Brent of Winfield; his brother Arthur Biddle of Wellington; his sister Kathy Bellis and husband, Mike of Arkansas City; his grandchildren, Tristan Sengkham and husband, Ricky; Taylor Young and husband, Tyson; Teall Lumbert and husband, Kolton Price; Gage Biddle; Landry Biddle; and his great grandchildren, Ryker Young, Tinley Price, Parker Young, and Aria Sengkham.

In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Marie Capps, two brothers, Robert Biddle and Jack Biddle, sister in law Sue Biddle, and two nephews, Justin and Harold Dean.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Oxford Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled on Friday evening from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

Memorials have been established in Richard’s name for Central Baptist Church and the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
