Ronnie Leon Moore, 70, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2025, at William Newton Hospital.
Born September 22, 1954, in Havana, Kansas, he was the son of Loris L. and Nellie J. (Corle) Moore. He was raised and received his education in Havana and Caney, graduating from Caney High School in 1973. He later attended tech school in Wichita for HVAC.
Ron was united in marriage to Mary K. Bradshaw in 1979 at the First Christian Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Ron worked at Rodeo Meat Packing Plant until they closed and then went to work at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center before beginning his career in maintenance at the Kansas Veterans Home, retiring in 2017. He also enjoyed farming and ranching. Ron was an active member of the Cowley County Fair Board. He enjoyed attending car shows, figure 8 races, restoring cars, and pheasant hunting.
His family includes his wife Mary Moore of Winfield; his sons Leon Moore and wife, Kimberly of Winfield; Roger Moore and wife, Jessica of Winfield; Mark Gordon and wife, Brandi of Winfield; Larry Moore of Havana; Heather Moore of Havana; his grandchildren, Wyatt and Cooper Moore of Lawrence; Wyatt and Lane Wadel of Winfield; Colton and Carter Moore of Winfield; and Levi and Katie Gordon of Winfield; his brothers, Larry Moore of Coffeyville; Walter Moore of Havana; Lyall Moore of Arkansas City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother Loris “Dean” Moore and a sister Deloris Vaughan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 28, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Ron’s name for the Cowley County Fair Board. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
