Roy Wayne Dowler, Sr., 78, Arkansas City, KS, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 16th, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 16th, prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
Roy Wayne Dowler Sr. was born on February 18, 1947, in Arkansas City, KS, to parents Roy C. and Juanita May (Scott) Dowler. He graduated from Newkirk High School in 1967 and joined the Army National Guard. Roy married the love of his life, Herlinda Ramirez, on May 20, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. He worked at Spirit and Boeing for several years, during which he started Wayne Dowler Electrical. Roy enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and watching western movies. He was a member of the American Legion Post 18. Roy loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with family.
Roy is survived by his wife Herlinda Dowler, son Roy Wayne Dowler, Jr. (Tammy), daughters: Christy Parker (Kike), Cindy Wells (Mike), and Cherie Mattocks (widowed), grandchildren: Riley (Cheyenne), Brock (Hadley Shaw), Raider (Naomi), Laken (John), Korbyn, Kasen, Collin, Braiden (Madison) Brigam, and Nicholas, great-grandchildren: Trevin, Tracen, Oaklee, Jovie, Breckynn, Brixtynn, Royal, Areli, Easton, Elliott, Palmer, and Memphis, brothers: Richard O. Dowler, Dale Dowler, Jim Dowler, sisters: Alvena Ruth Dowler, Joyce Harjo, Lois Jennings, and Mary Jane Dowler. Roy is preceded in death by his parents.
