Sharon Gail Voorhis, 78, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, KS.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on October 15, 2026, at the Riverview Cemetery in Ark City. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in her name may be made out to the Cowley County Humane Society and left in the care of the funeral home.
Sharon was born on January 14, 1948, in Arkansas City, KS, to parents Phillip and Laura Blanche (Lines) Shook. She attended and graduated from Ark City High School. Sharon married Thomas “Tom” Voorhis on May 9, 1977. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and blankets; Sharon also liked solving jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, Sharon was devoted to her dog Missy and her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Tom Voorhis, sons Chris Houseman (Antoinette) and Clay Houseman (Lara Ruppert), grandchildren, Tristda Brake, Christina Houseman, and Kobe Houseman, and sister, Rowena Varble. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Cleo Shook, Charles Shook, and Dwayne Shook, and her sister, Karen Shook.
