Sharonlyn Ellen (Jones) Smith, 79, formerly of North Newton, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Resthaven Nursing Home in Winfield, Kansas.
She was born on August 20,1946 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond Marion and Maxine Maurine (Hoffman) Jones. Sharonlyn was raised in the Mt. Hope and Halstead, Kansas areas, graduating from Halstead High School.
She lived in Whitewater, Kansas for 20 years until moving to Wichita in 1991 and later moving to North Newton, Kansas where she lived for 15 years until recently moving to Winfield.
Sharonlyn enjoyed reading, going dancing, and doing crafts. She had been a librarian in Andover and Whitewater for 25 years before going to work at the Royal Caribbean Call Center in Wichita until retiring.
Survivors include her son Tim Gronau and wife Traci of Winfield; daughter Deanna Gronau and husband Jesse of Sherman Oaks, California; two grandchildren Courtney Gronau (John Moser) and Kirstie Cates (Jarrett Cates); and three great grandchildren Briggston, Holton, and Hudson. She is also survived by her brother Robert Jones of Newton; sisters Marianne Tedder of Newton and Lynn Mitchel of Oklahoma.
Sharonlyn is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Michael and Mitchell.
