Sheila Goree, 72, of Arkansas City, Kansas, died Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City.
She was born on January 17, 1953 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Goree and Pearl Vaughan Bradford. Sheila moved with her family to Arkansas City in 1965. She was raised by Vivian and Leon Jordan, Sr. and graduated from Arkansas City High School.
She loved playing checkers online and watching horror movies. Through the years Sheila had lived in Oklahoma and Texas before settling back in Ark City.
Survivors include her son Gene Jordan and wife Lakisha of Hutchinson; daughter Prystina Jordan and wife Tomeka Cross of Jacksonville, Texas; grandchildren Jamauri Jordan, Jronn Jordan, Gene Jordan, Jr., Mykal Berry, Tre Berry, Tarien Goree, Trevon Goree Lolar; great grandchildren Jeter Jordan, Jamauri Jordan, Jr., Amauri Jordan, Kaleenah Goree, Zhyale Goree, Zhyre Goree, Kyia Goree, and Julius Goree.
Sheila is also survived by her mother Pearl Bradford of Arkansas City; and siblings Kay Mackey, Chrystal Bradford, Lisa Bradford, Stan Goree all of Arkansas City, Louis Davis of San Diego, California, and Leon Jordan, Jr. of Parma, Ohio.
Sheila is preceded in death by her father; Vivian and Leon Jordan, Sr.; brother Ray Bradford; sister Sherry Lee Williams; brother Alfred Eugene Jordan; and step-father Preston Bradford.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 10 at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Arkansas City.
The family has entrusted Affordable Cremations Plus of Wichita with her care.
