Shelley Harris
1962 - 2025

Shelley Harris, 62, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, at the KU Medical Center.

Born July 24, 1962, Winfield, she was the daughter of Ray Stephen and Sherrie (Rowley) Holmes. She was raised and received her education in Udall, graduating from Udall High School in 1980. Shelley married David McDade in 1983. The couple had two sons and later divorced. She married Larry Harris in 1985. They had a son and daughter and divorced.

Shelley worked in the Plastics Industry for the majority of her life. She started at K Square in Strother Field and moved to SFB in Wichita. She later worked at Rubbermaid where she remained for over 18 years.

Shelley was an avid KU basketball fan. She enjoyed camping, kayaking, sewing, and crafting. She loved spending time with her children, taking them to rodeos when they were younger and coaching softball. More recently, she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and teaching them to craft.

Her family includes her children, Brian McDade and wife, Mandy of Udall; Brandon McDade of Haysville; Bradley Harris of Winfield; Melissa Coash of El Dorado; Jordan Johnson and wife, Laura of Olathe; Codey Kautz of Winfield; her siblings, Paul Holmes and wife, Michelle of Udall; Chris Holmes and wife, Melissa of Udall; her brother-in-law Patrick Durkin and wife, Andrea of California; her grandchildren, Carson McDade, Cayden McDade, Brodi Coash, Bentli Coash, Jaxon McDade, Rylin McDade, and Stetson McDade; her K9 companion Ramblin Ranch Rip Wheeler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was known as Mama Shelley to many extended family.

Shelley was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Brenda Durkin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Ninnescah Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening. Feel free to wear any jewelry that Shelley made you.

A memorial has been established in Shelley’s name for RiverCross Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
