Steven Ralph Lankton, 71, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at William Newton Hospital.
Born April 25, 1953, in Chanute, he was the son of Ralph Andrew and Ivy M. (Buckle) Lankton. Steve was raised and received his education in both LeRoy and Kingman, graduating from Kingman High School in 1971. Following high school, Steve spent a year studying at Hutchinson Community College.
On February 14, 1976, Steve was united in marriage to Stella Rae Fleenor at the Christian Church in Winfield. The couple made their forever home in Winfield. Steve worked as a mechanic for several companies including Sweetland-Hinson Tractor Repair, Eads One Stop, and for a short time at Rusty Eck Ford. He began working for Farmland Industries in 1990 as a truck driver and eventually as a pipeliner. Steve remained with the company as it became Coffeyville Resources, retiring in 2018.
Steve enjoyed camping, boating, and water skiing. He also liked photography, collecting guns, and playing with his beloved dog, Jake. In more recent years, Steve and Stella traveled on their Harley to many destinations across the United States. Most of all, Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and attending all of his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
His family includes his wife Stella Lankton of Winfield; his children, Heather Daerr and husband, Travis of Garden Plain; Jeremy Lankton and wife, Ivy of Wichita; and Steven Lankton of Winfield; his parents, Ralph and Ivy Lankton of Kingman; his grandchildren, Tranden and Teagen Daerr of Garden Plain; and Rory and Lucy Lankton of Wichita; his sisters, Sue Colgin and husband, Harold of Carl Junction, MO; and Rita Foulk and husband, Mike of Roatan, Honduras; his brother Troy Lankton and wife, Becky of Anthony; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by a brother Tommy Lankton and a daughter-in-law Rachel Lankton.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family would like to greet visitors prior to the service starting at 1:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Steve’s name for the Leukemia Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
