Ty Wade Mitchell
1969-2026

Ty Wade Mitchell, 56, of Oxford, KS passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Oxford Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, January 18, at Oxford Funeral Services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ty Mitchell Scholarship fund at USD 358; donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.

Ty was born on October 9, 1969 in Blackwell, OK to parents Danny Ray and Judith Ann (Trenary) Mitchell. He graduated from Ark City Christian Academy in 1987. After school he worked at John Rogers Hog Farm, then at ADM Milling before starting his career at Prairie Land Partners in Winfield, where he worked as the parts clerk for over 26 years. On May 8, 1999 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kimberly Houk. Ty loved being with people, making them laugh, teasing customers, or making bad jokes. He auctioneered for just about everyone in the area and always helped with the County 4H auction or anywhere he could help kids further themselves. He was an avid sports fan, especially of KU basketball, playing corn hole and was a member of the Oxford Christian Church.

Ty is survived by his wife, sons Dakota Ray Mitchell (Alyssa), and Hunter Tyler Mitchell, grandchildren Savanna Flemming and one on the way, Lilah Mitchell, mother Judith Mitchell, brother Ernest Ray Mitchell (Dedra) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and siblings Mark Allen Mitchell and Lisa Ann Mitchel.
