Ark City sophomore Kennedy Barnes breaks XC school record at league championships

Ark City High School sophomore Kennedy Barnes broke the school record in the 5K during the Ark Valley Chisolm Trail DI and DII league championships Friday in Salina.

Barnes’ 5K clocked in at 20:14.13.

Overall, Barnes was fourth and Jasmine Calvo, a junior for Ark City, was fifth with a time of 20:20.49.

Bulldogs senior Owen Seaton was second for the boys with a time of 16:17.21. Junior Mason Burr was fifth for Ark City with a time of 16:39.57.

Overall, ACHS qualified 12 for state cross country.

Winfield High School Cross Country will be sending four to state.

Lydia Nelson was the highest finishing Viking with a time of 21:34.00 at the AVCTL D3/D4 Championships last Thursday in Wichita.
