Former Ark City High School and Cowley College basketball star Cevin Clark tied a Southwestern College men’s basketball record.
Clark, a junior with the No. 11 Moundbuilders, was 18-of-18 at the charity stripe on Monday night against Sterling at Stewart Field House in Winfield. He tied the previous SC record for made free throws in a single game set by Carl Dunbar in the 2002-03 season.
Clark, who was also the quarterback of the Bulldogs football team during his high school years and a starter on the Cowley Tigers men’s basketball team that made it all the way to the NJCAA national title game in 2021, scored a game-high 28 points in the 81-68 win against Sterling.
Last season, Clark led the Builders in scoring with 20.2 points per game and broke a school record for made 3-pointers. Clark sank 109 3s and was 44.7 percent beyond the arc.
SC continues play at Tabor Thursday with the women’s game beginning at 6 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on 95.9 Bob FM.
