Ark City’s Savannah Phillips scored 33 points in the Bulldogs’ opening-round 50-21 win against Campus Tuesday in the Mulvane Wildcat Classic Tournament.
Phillips, a junior for the ACHS girls basketball team, scored in the paint, at the line and also hit a 3-pointer. Overall, she knocked down 11 baskets and was 10 of 18 at the charity stripe.
Ark City (4-6), the No. 3 seed, will play tournament host Mulvane (4-5) Friday at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in this year’s tournament.
Mulvane defeated Wichita North in overtime Tuesday 56-50.
Winfield fell to Rose Hill in the opening round 35-23 and will play Conway Springs Friday at 2:30.
Conway Springs is the No. 1 seed in this year’s tournament, but was upset and knocked out of the winner’s side of the bracket Tuesday by Wichita Collegiate, the No. 8 seed.
