In a game that featured 22 hits, 19 walks, and 25 runs, the Cowley College baseball team lost 13-12 at Rose State Monday in Midwest City, OK.

Cowley rallied from deficits of 3-1 and 7-2 to lead 8-7 after scoring six runs in the top of the sixth inning. Luke Shannahan and Ty Hammack had two-run doubles in the six-run outburst.

With the game tied 10-10, the Raiders went back in front by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Tigers would rally in the top of the ninth to pull within 13-12 thanks to a two-run single by Cooper Schwindt and had runners at first and third when the Raiders Blake Seefeldt got Cowley’s Logan Vaughan to ground out to shortstop to end the game.

Sophomore leftfielder Trayson Miller homered for the third time in his past six games and led the Tigers with three hits. Freshman second baseman Eaden Holt also played well as he went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, two stolen bases and four runs scored.

Luke Singleton (0-2) walked all three batters he faced in the bottom of the sixth inning. Each of the runners would come around to score as Singleton took the loss. Andrew Talburt started on the mound for Cowley and allowed three hits and two earned runs in three innings pitched.

Krew Taylor, who played for the Tigers a season ago, hit a three-run homer for the Raiders.

Cowley is now 27-13 on the season, while Rose State improves its record to 19-20.

The Tigers will now prepare for a huge, four-game series against No. 6-ranked Johnson County. The Cavaliers are currently in front of Cowley in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division standings with a record of 21-3, while the Tigers are 17-3.
