Inmate Found Dead At El Dorado Correctional Facility

An inmate at El Dorado Correctional Faculty was found dead Monday.

According to a news release from the Kansas Department of Corrections, Marcos Issac Delarosa, 35, found unresponsive in his housing unit.

Staff began life-saving measures immediately and continued after emergency medical services arrived. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.

“A preliminary assessment indicates the death was not related to COVID-19,” the news release stated. “Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the KDOC, the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is currently ongoing.”

Delarosa was serving a 116-month sentence on convictions in Ford County, Kansas, of three counts of possession of drugs, two counts of Intent to sell drugs, and three counts of felony weapon possession.

The El Dorado Correctional Facility is an all-male facility housing all custody levels with a current population of 1,738 residents, the news release said.
