Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Judge Richard Hathcoat to serve as Tulsa County District Judge.
“Judge Hathcoat is well-equipped to preside over cases in Tulsa County, ensuring each case is treated with impartiality and integrity,” Stitt stated last week. “With over 30 years of legal expertise, Judge Hathcoat brings a deep commitment to upholding the law and a strong dedication to public service.”
Before becoming a Special Judge for the Tulsa County District Court in 2022, Hathcoat practiced general civil litigation and criminal defense work in state and federal courts since 2019, according to a press release from the governor’s office. From 2008 to 2019, Hathcoat worked in oil and gas in Colorado.
“I am deeply honored by Governor Stitt’s trust, and his appointment of me as a District Judge,” Hathcoat said. “I look forward to making valuable contributions to the court system and the Tulsa community in this distinguished position that I hold in the highest regard.”
Born in Stillwater, Hathcoat obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa in 1988, before earning his juris doctor from the University of Tulsa in 1991. Hathcoat currently resides in Tulsa with his wife and three children.
