Cowley College is celebrating continued enrollment growth this fall, with preliminary census figures showing a 2.5 percent year-to-year increase in headcount. It marks the first time in recent years the college has posted growth in back-to-back years.
The Kansas Board of Regents reported statewide headcount enrollment across public higher education rose 2.2 percent, the third straight year of growth.
At Cowley, 85 percent of students are Kansas residents. President Dr. Michelle Schoon credited the increase to enrollment management efforts and growth in programs that meet industry needs, including welding, nondestructive testing, health services, and education.
“The College continues to focus on student success and retention, with an increase in fall-to-fall retention numbers and a significant increase in retention of part-time students,” Schoon said.
Enrollment data is collected annually on the 20th day of the fall semester and reported in both headcount and full-time equivalency.
